Amy Boone Thompson is Chief Operating Officer for Stroller Strides, LLC., a San Diego based company. She is a seasoned business executive and is highly respected in the fitness and franchise industries. Under her leadership Stroller Strides, a franchisor, has more than doubled in units and expanded to 3 countries and 47 states. Amy is passionate about furthering the professionalism and expertise within her industries. She has been a presenter and author for franchise and fitness over the last decade, lecturing on topics of leadership, management and health. She currently serves as Program Director Committee Chair for IDEA and Co-Chair for the San Diego Women’s Franchise Network Chapter through the International Franchising Association.
Amy has a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical & Health Education from George Mason University and multiple certificates in Nutritional and Lifestyle Coaching. Amy was a two-sport Collegiate and Semi-Pro Athlete, which naturally led her to a career as a fitness professional and health educator. For eight years Amy worked in commercial clubs as Fitness Manager, Sports Director, General Manager and then Fitness Director for 26 locations throughout California. Under Amy’s leadership, these clubs offered one of the country’s most sought after Internship programs for fitness professionals, launched the inaugural season of the National Women’s Basketball League (NWBL) which has grown to seven semi-pro teams across the country and serves as a talent pool for the NWBA and incorporated a company-wide member retention program which tracked a 12% increase in program adherence.
Amy is actively involved in her community. She served as the Lead Fitness Consultant for the Survivors’ Health and Physical Exercise (SHAPE) Study at UCSD Cancer Center. The four-year study follows women and men who are breast cancer survivors through supervised fitness and nutrition lifestyle modification programs to determine its effectiveness on their vitality, longevity and cancer recurrence. She teaches fitness classes and gives seminars on topics about family health, indoor air quality, toxic chemicals found in the home, organic foods and energy conservation to San Diego Mothers. Amy leads the nationwide LUNA Moms Club, Moms With A Mission program which strives to support, connect and empower moms. Together their efforts have raised over $225,000 for March of Dimes, Breast Cancer Fund and Healthy Child, Healthy World during 2009 – 2010. She and her Husband founded the Four Seasons Yoga Studio, which offers Yoga & Pilates classes, Meditation and organic nutrition courses to men, women and children of all ages. Amy volunteers with the American Council of Exercise, Operation Fit Kids in local Junior High and High Schools. She brought thousands of dollars worth of donated used fitness equipment from health clubs to the local schools and to the Teri Inc. Program, which provides housing and education to handicap children and teens.
Amy is a contributing fitness expert for NBC 7/39, KFMB, San Diego Union Tribune, American Council on Exercise and IDEA. She maintains memberships with organizations who are committed to her vision of improving quality of life and environmental conservation such as; National Sports Professionals Association, IDEA Health & Fitness Association the American Council of Exercise and the CHEK Institute.
